Marsciano, magnificent village of about 3,084 square meters. gross, today an accommodation business, with 8.5 hectares of land and breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and Perugia.
Description: The castle dates back to 593 AD and was built on the borders of the Byzantine Corridor. Around the year 1000 it became a monastery and in 1474 it was sold to a family of counts who used it as a summer residence. For over 500 years, surnames changed only by inheritance to daughters. The house consists of 27 residential units, 11 apartments and 16 suites, all finely restored with chestnut wood beams and antique terracotta floors. The restoration was carried out with the help of the Ministry of Culture which, due to the accuracy of the work and the quality of the materials used, considers it a model restoration. 23 units are of considerable public interest with great tax advantages. Units range from 59 to 186 sqm. and have from 1 to 3 bedrooms, 96% of which have their own bathroom. Many living rooms have a fireplace. In the Torre Piccola there is a unit of 186 square meters with a large living room, 2 double bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the first floor there is a unit of 170 sqm with a large sitting room, fireplace and 7 beds. The view is magnificent from all the windows and from the forecourts. The hill is present on maps at the entrance to the Vatican Museums because in 174 AD a saint took refuge there and because in 1450 Pope Nicholas V (1447-55) lived there for months who founded the Vatican Library, crowned a German emperor in Rome for the last time and accepted the resignation of the last antipope. In the chapel of St. Paul, first mentioned in a papal bull of 1115, there is a beautiful canopy for papal visits with his coat of arms. There are also delicate frescoes from 1315-19 painted by Meo da Siena who was a pupil of Giotto and who has an entire room dedicated to him in the Städel museum in Frankfurt and in the National Gallery in Perugia.
There is a spa with sauna, Turkish bath, emotional shower and heated whirlpool, a restaurant with ribbed cross ceiling and an iron pergola of 129 square meters with a splendid view of Perugia, opening windows and kitchen.
Outdoor spaces: The property has 8.5 ha of vegetable garden, olive grove, orchard, truffle ground, forest and parking.
State and finishes: The property is cared for everywhere down to the smallest detail. 23 units have stone walls, with a thickness of up to 1.6 m. The windows are made of chestnut and the glazing is double. In a large apartment, the height between floor and ceiling is 7 m. The heating is often underfloor.
Potential uses: It is perfect for those who want to exercise high-level accommodation and as a summer residence for groups of friendly families.
Location: It is located near the main art cities of Umbria and Tuscany.
